An unlikely sight!
In 1998 Virgin Trains hired preserved Deltic D9000 to haul some cross-country trains! It now seems bizarre enough to see an 'Inter-City' train at Ramsgate without there being a Deltic on the front! August 1998.
I forget where this train had started, but this still being in the morning it was probably only Birmingham - however it then returned from here to Edinburgh!
