A method of dispensing beer devised specially for Scotland, as by law the spout had to be clearly visible to the punter as the beer was poured into the glass. An air compressor was used to pump the beer up to somewhere around eye level. However no carbon dioxide gas was involved. Such pumps are rare now, having been mostly replaced by boring English handpumps for serving cask beer. Similar looking modern fonts dispense naff keg beer.
