One-off
On an extraordinary day in 1973 a friend 'arranged' for an RT to go out one Sunday on route 73. The route had been converted to RM in 1962 (apart from 5 from long-gone Twickenham garage which lingered into 1963). I'd be surprised if many, or any, had appeared since. Tottenham garage had recently been allocated a few RTs for route 41 in order to cover for an RM shortgage. Of course on Sunday the 73 went on a very long (and completely barmy!) extension to Hounslow. This was where the RT had gone on its previous trip. Unexpectedly the relieving crew were happy to take over the RT for its next short working trip to Hammersmith (the usual Mon-Sat terminus). The bus is seen there in the gathering gloom of a late winter afternoon.
