ALBA. Home of Nutella Mothership.

(always thought it was American)

Hazel-nut trees vie for space, with traditional vineyards.

On a windless day (because of the factory), u can recognise the aroma miles & miles away.

Those in our group with hired german cars (u know who u are !) by not using their own Tom-Tom GPS's... were constantly getting LOST. Alba was the ONE town they could always orientate back too ... by following their nose.

nb:

If driving in Italy - well worth loading up your Tom Tom and taking it with you OS.

(Alister never got lost. So easy driving in Italy).

Oddly (everyone else's) on-board vehicle GPS's and Google, had a 40% FAIL rate ... driving thru rural areas.

But Piedmont's vineyards, aren't yet a foreigners mecca. Tourists here are Italian. Hence road signs (once off the autostrada) can be confusing or non-existent.
