One such contemporary example of an artist that uses the device of detournement is a prosumer of the name Jonnystyle who produced a critical response to a Simpson’s opening sequence that featured the British street artist Banksy in an episode Titled “Money Bart” (2010). This mashup is not only a good example of the participatory nature of the contemporary Web 2.0 culture but provides a good example of detournement through it’s critical rewriting of the original representation’s of Banksy and the Simpsons. Ironically both the Simpsons and Banksy are considered culture jammers and often resistant of corporate cultures yet are highly successfully mass media producers and in there lies the parody (Fink cited in Jenkins, 2012).
