Smoke abstract

First attempt at smoke art. Patience is definitely the key here; took around 1,200 shots last night experimenting with different techniques for fanning the smoke from an incense stick.

Photo was taken in the dark against a black background with an external strobe with a home-made snoot aimed through the smoke slightly towards the camera to keep the light off the background. Post processing was inverting the colour to make the background white, then applying a colour gradient to the smoke. Lots of work, but I'm pleased with the result :-)
