Taiwan was already an agricultural society, the chinese brougth them the yoke ,hoe, sickle and water buffalo to improve farming in the island . During 18th century ,water conservation was develop and dams constructed ,creating a surge in the production of crops . The farmers also raised poultry , and became self-sufficient.
