A very rare and special Lunar Eclipse on the morning of the Winter Solstice, 21 December 2010. The last time these two cosmic events coincided was 1638 - cool!!!

 

Taken from my lawn, tramping through 8" of snow at 7.30am to get the best view before it became shrouded in clouds... it was well worth getting cold toes for :)))

Title - inspired by the hymn 'Silent Night'.

round yon virgin

mother and child.

sleep in heavenly peace,
