Mammoth Mountain Inn
Architect: Theodore Boutmy (1958)
Location: Mammoth Lakes, CA
This beautiful example of "mountain modernism" was falsely attributed to the architect Edward Fickett in an article published in the L.A. Times, due to erroneous information provided by Fickett's widow. It was, in fact, designed by Boutmy and photographed at the time by Julius Shulman. It's still in great original condition.
Apologies for the quality. I was on my snowboard at the time, and this is a phone picture - not taken with my usual camera. Those of you who are familiar with my Instagram feed will recognize the shot from a few weeks ago. I'm just reposting here now.
