Axial Heirarchy
The new space proposed borrows energies from the nearby Palace Square. It leverages the existing site condition strategies (e.g. axial hierarchy, staging, sequencing) and re-appropriates for the new spatial encounter that pushes social engagement. While formal arrangements cannot directly influence social change, the work takes into account Lefebvre’s triad dialectic of perceived, conceived, and lived space.(05) Instead, new spatiality and sequenced architectural interventions promote bodily engagement. Instead, staging such public space as a “lived project” elicits spatiality ripe for public participation with rumblings of revolutionary potential. (06)
