Las Vegas Gardening - Drip Irrigation & Rich Black Soil
I am changing all of my drip irrigation to Netafim in my intensely planted beds. I am burying it 2-3 inches deep in this new bed where I will grow daylilies and perrenial plants. The water will go directly to the root zone causing the plant roots to go deeper into cooler soil - important in the desert. I will lay it on the surface of the soil in my veggie beds so I can see it - I don't want to damage it while planting and fertilizing.
I have this black soil especially blended for me by a local soils company, they will make it up for you, too. This Tomato Lady Soil, named for me, is rich in organics and humic acid and it is easy for me to lift and divide my daylilys, iris and bulbs. I used to make compost - got too old to turn the pile - buying it is cheaper and less work for me.
