Bad Timing
I didn't have much chance to make this work, but the final picture, even though it's not a good high speed photo, looks neat.
The object is a glass candlestick holder from a garage sale. About 2x2x6 inches.
I put the fire cracker behind one side, which I painted black to block out the light.
Then I fired the cracker.
I hoped would catch the glass cracking, but it was too late. I think that I may have more delay than I hoped in my simple trigger.
This may force me to actually measure it.
The spray of light and the cracked glass still look cool.
Cheers.
I measured the delay and its about 12usec, not enough to account for the timing miss. Although I have no real idea when the actual trigger was, the cracks should have taken about 35usec to cross half the glass.
