L’élevage des pigeons participait pour une part non négligeable à la consommation quotidienne des propriétaires des lieux, mais apportait surtout la colombine produite par les oiseaux, qui était jusqu’au 19e siècle l’un des meilleurs engrais pour fumer la terre.
