The end of Spring... The exuberance of Tulips in the Hortus has almost entirely faded to dying browns and yellows. But our Lily-flowering Tulipa 'Marilyn' (1976) is still at the height of its colorful power for a few days. Soon flowers and stems will be removed. The foliage will remain because it'll deliver nutrients to the much diminished bulbs that yielded such a show of red and white. If all goes according to plan they'll fatten full of energy. In a few months they'll be dug up and stored until their planting in the Spring and a New Show.
