Late-Winter White. Corydalis cava, White Hollow Root, Hortus Botanicus, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Suddenly I saw this White where I didn't remember it from the day before. This is White Hollow Root pushing up from dead earth into Late-Winter light. A pretty, unexpected sight. Its flowers look like a crested lark from which they take their botanical name. And when I came home a friend called and said that he'd seen and heard early Field Larks. Spring is not long in coming.
