Musical Dahlias. Combo Sculpture and Single Dahlia Foursome, Gaasperpark, Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Any season and any kind of weather is good for the Gaasperpark and its Lake on the southeastern outskirts of Amsterdam

www.flickr.com/photos/87453322@N00/26641602550/in/photoli.... It was particularly inviting Pleasant Sunny Today!

In 1982 the site of the Floriade, the park still has remnants of that great horticultural showing. Here and there some flower beds which the municipality maintains as well as it can given financial strictures. These pretty Dahlias are in such a bed.

Throughout the park there are also some remaining works of art. Here's one (see inset) I've found particularly attractive: a jazz combo hewn in sandstone. It's right next to the Dahlia Display. Regrettably it's not labeled; I've tried many times in many different ways to discover its provenance but to no avail...

Perhaps someone on flickr will be able to identify it precisely. Do let me know!

PS 2017.8.9 Today I further examined this sculpture. Lo and behold! My previous examinations had overlooked a relatively hard to see inscription. The sculptor is Ingeborg Hobbelman (1939-), and the sculpture is called: 'Musici Amsterdam'. It is made of basalt lava.
