89/365/2010 road to polihale beach, returning.
GMO corn field-testing, at left.
sugar cane, apparently no longer profitable to grow here, gone wild at right.
U.S. Navy Pacific Missile Testing Facility, up ahead at right. apparently missile bunkers in the hillside, up ahead at left, too.
so strange to drive past all of this to reach such a beautiful beach. there's a sign at the beginning of the road warning warn not to take rental cars without 4 wheel drive on this road. whoops.
checked out much of the island today looking for where we wanted to stay.
picked up a couple of hitchhikers & drove them out to the end of the road here to the beach where they were camping here at the far end of the road.
after this, we drove almost all the way to the OTHER end of the road on the north end of the island, to Hanalei, before finding where we ended up staying for the rest of the week.
