Hacking Away
I don't think this is the Red-bellied Woodpecker we usually get. I took this from an easy chair from 12 ft. back in the room because the RBW that usually comes will fly away if you just lift your arm up. This guy was taking huge chunks at a time and staying for quite some time. You can see his sort-of-red belly pretty well.
We had this one, a Red-breasted Nuthatch, a Goldfinch and 75-100 House Sparrows in a 10 minute period, then no other birds at all until some Cardinals showed up at the customary Cardinal time before dusk. That's the way its been going recently during this warmer weather.
