Western Painted Turtles (Chrysemys picta bellii) on drowned and downed water birch, Munson Pond, Kelowna, BC. These trees have paid a terrible price for human mismanagement over the years, but the turtles don't mind. I'm amazed at how many people come to this pond, with its great diversity of creatures, just for the turtles!
