Here's part of the crowd in the park watching the big screens that were set up to show the program going on in the church across the street. Gospel singers performed and preachers, civil rights leaders, and a politician spoke to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the bombing of 16th Street Baptist Church.
The monument shows a young protester being confronted by a policeman and his dog in this park in 1963. As I was sketching, a woman stopped and said to me, "It was REAL."
