Caboose X5001 was teamed with the busisness car "Milwaukee" and an Ortner Steer Palace car on a demonstration trip, under USDA surveillancer, from Spencer, IA to a meat packer in Souderton, PA to evaluate the possibility of shipping fat cattle without the mandatory stop every 28 hours to to feed and water the livestock. The Ortner car carried feed and water for the cattle so to eliminate the stop. The X5001 carried video and other monitoring equipment to record the condition of the livestock enroute.
