Osprey series
Young osprey are not efficient at capturing fish, but they eventually refine their techniques. From the Palmer Boulevard boardwalk near the Sarasota Audubon Visitor Center at Celery Fields we watched a group of 4 birds facing into the wind (see the fourth image), circling over and hovering over the water, and finally diving and splashing down. They came up empty "handed" most of the time (as in the first three images), but now and then (as seen in the 6th image) one would pull up a fish and fly triumphantly to the a utility pole to enjoy a reallly fresh meal.
