Louisiana, premier Danish modern art museum

The museum consists of a ring of buildings with exhibition spaces, some of them partly subterranean. The original owner of the villa, around which the museum later developed, named it Louisiana after his three wives (all named Louis!). The museum, which began to develop in the 1950's, is located about 25 miles north of Copenhagen and a few miles south of Kronborg Castle on the Øresund (sound) separating the two countries. It's a very lovely spot; I actually spent more time outside in the sculpture garden than indoors. There's something very appealing about Nature's art and the way that architects and designers can blend human-built structures with human-influenced landscapes... (August 16, 2019)
