Woodchat Shrike (Lanius senator)

I don't expect rain in Greece, we go there regularly as a gentle sunny break after our more adventurous trips. But this year was different and July saw us dodging the rain in Sani Wetlands, Halkidiki, where we found this family of rather bedraggled Shrikes. Despite the rain I was rather pleased to get these shots - from the ever popular "car" hide! The rain even made for some great bokeh shots.

 

Sani is a great place - sandy pinewoods meet beach, reedbeds and lakes, so lots to see! And ideal for these beauties.
