"Never let them see you sweat."

 

Well, I do sweat and try to make sure that I sweat at least three times a week. I would prefer four or five days, but my self discipline seems to waver.

 

Over the years exercise has become much more important to me. When I was twenty-one, I could have cared less about exercising. I don't think that I even owned a bicycle at that time, because I walked everywhere on campus and had to bum rides whenever I needed to go somewhere outside of town. Somehow I have a feeling that all of that walking was offset by the beer consumption. Despite that odd mix, I don't think that I gained that much weight when I was in college.

 

A decade after college, with my metabolism slowing down and spending hours behind a desk, I knew that my body was changing. Something needed to be done, so I started to cycle as much as I could and loved it. Then later I mixed in some time on the elliptical machine to keep me active in winter. That seemed to help and today I am determined to stay as reasonably fit as I can with my odd schedule.
