The nice hamlet of Boot, that is a short walk from the Dalegarth(Eskdale) terminus of the excellent Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway boasts a Water Mill, holiday cottages, a small shop and a couple of hostelries. It's a nice starting/finishing point for walks up England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike, that stands at a height of 3,209ft.
