This was around the holidays, as I walked past this window, the starkness of the light, and the details, the word "cash" spelled out in neon, the instruments on sale, and the dirty window made me stop right there. I thought of people having to pawn their instruments to get cash, for whatever. Selling their souls at 10 cents on the dollar. I pondered such a business that exploits misfortune. ( nobody pawn things when they have the time to sell it, this is always done in desperation) I thought about the economy. I've got a good job, a career actually, but we had no contract and "they" were talking pay cuts at the time this was taken. So much uncertainty so many people 2 paychecks away from being homeless; at the time I pondered the possibility of my dreams on display here.
