Different
Much of Chicago has over the decades become straight lines and sharp corners. The neo-gothic Tribune Tower--seen here from the office of Perkins & Will on the 36th floor--is an icon of a different era. Built in the art-deco obsessed days of the 1920s, the Tribune Tower was an anachronism even when it was new. Its designed was selected in a famous contest. The second-place finisher wound up being built across the street as the Wrigley Building.
We started out day at the Tribune Tower, actually, touring the old office of legendary Tribune publisher Colonel Robert McCormick. Sadly, my pictures there didn't turn out that great.
