Children and staff members from Kansas STARBASE of Manhattan, were hosted by Co. C, 2-1 General Support Aviation Battalion, Combat Aviation Brigade, July 10, 2015, at Marshall Army Air Field, Fort Riley, Kansas.
The goal of DoD STARBASE, a Department of Defense Youth Program is to motivate students to explore Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) as they continue their education. The program engages students through the inquiry-based curriculum with its "hands-on, mind-on" experiential activities.
Aviation professionals of the CAB, 1st Inf., Div., instructed the students and Boy Scouts on capabilities and operation of the UH-60L Black Hawk, CH-47F Chinook, provided Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear and Explosives (CBRN-E) masks and suits for the students to have a hands-on experience along with other interactive equipment displays.
