The Same Girl Inside

The Same Girl Inside

I asked an old woman, gentle and wise,

What it feels like to live through time’s disguise,

To know most of life now lingers behind,

While memories shimmer through heart and mind.

She smiled in a way both tender and true,

And said, “I feel no older than you.

The voice in my head has stayed the same,

Still just a young girl with a different name.

I’ve always been someone’s daughter at heart,

Still wondering when ‘old age’ would start.

I watched my reflection slowly change,

Yet inside I remained beyond time’s range.

My body grew slower, my steps less sure,

But the girl within stayed bright and pure.

She never grew weary, never grew old,

Her laughter still dances, her spirit still bold.

Time touched my skin, softened my sight,

But never could dim my inner light.

For souls don’t wrinkle, nor do they bend,

They travel with us, without an end.

So when you see age in a weathered face,

Know youth still lives in that quiet place.

For every old heart is a child once more,

Still longing for kindness, as always before.

Give love and give purpose, let compassion start,

For we are all children just wrapped in a heart.

Our spirits eternal, our essence the same,

Just travellers in time with a different name.” 💛
