The Church of St Lawrence, Snarford
The monument to Sir George St Paul (d1613) and his family, is a towering alabaster monument, which stands against the north chancel wall.
He was twice MP for Lincolnshire, County Sheriff and a leading magistrate. He was knighted by James I in 1607 and in 1611 became one of the first Lincolnshire gentlemen to gain the new title of hereditary baronet.
He married the then 15 year old Frances Wray and they then had their only child Mattathia, who unfortunately died at the age of 1 year and ten months.
The couple are posed in what is commonly known as, the toothache position.
