Flashlight fish (dead)
This is an actual (and VERY pickeled!) dead specimen of a deep-sea Flashlight fish; the lower eyelid shows the glands that house the bioluminescent bacteria that makes it glow in the dark in those depths. Definitely something you don't see every day, but I guess just another day at the California Academy of Sciences!
