Operation Clean Sweep (23)
To prevent a large-scale assault on Awdak, “A” Company of the Special Operations Regiment, together with Unit 302 of the Coalition’s Counter-Terrorism Division, was ordered to conduct a village clearance operation designed to disrupt insurgent networks and degrade their ability to launch coordinated attacks.
During Phase 1, 2nd Platoon was tasked with setting the conditions for the Ground Assault Force (GAF) from 1st Platoon and Unit 302. Under the cover of darkness, 2nd Platoon was air-inserted into a landing zone (HLZ). Upon landing, they advanced toward their designated blocking positions to seal off the village.
