A popular piece it has been cast many times both during his life and posthumously. Working with living artists I used to have a log of casts made, each bronze stamped with a number.
The rights to produce Rodin bronzes is owned and controlled by the French government through a contract they made with the artist during his life. I don’t know if they have a limit to three number of casts they will allow.
