Each of the thirty three volunteer companies contributing to the testomonial is represented by a goblet and a shield on the salver. The ladle is shaped like a fireman's helmet at the top of the handle is a trophy made up of a speaking horn and rope.
The set was designed by Messrs. Lilenthal and Holyland in New Orleans, it was cast in sterling silver by Whiting Manufacturing Company in New York City. The set weights 800 ounces.
