St Lucy , 4th century saint and martyr, holds a knife and two eyes, placed on top of a book. There is a legend that her eyes were torn out but miraculously restored. One of 15 panels of the medieval rood screen in the church of St Peter & St Paul, Eye, Suffolk. The screen dates from about 1480 and most of the panels are in excellent condition, having been cleaned but not restored or over-painted.
