Salvation

Entitled 'Salvation' this 1958 window by Ervin Bossanyi, in Canterbury cathedral, replaced an earlier window by Clayton and Bell, which was destroyed during WWII. Born in Hungary, interned during WWI, then forced to flee Germany in 1934, war and peace were clearly dominant themes for the artist.

 

This window shows an angel helping a human figure upwards towards light and the universal family.
