Bellot memorial

The inscription on the plain granite memoriaL obelisk which sits beside the Thames Path outside the Royal Naval College, Greenwich. Erected by public subscription in memory of Frenchman, Joseph René Bellot, who perished on one of the expeditions in search of the missing ships, Erebus and Terror from Sir John Franklin's 1845 attempt to discover the North West Passage.
