I found some toothpaste

Colgate was on sale.

This tube only cost 元10.9 (~C$1.60).

It was substantially cheaper than Darlie, which was selling for almost 30 kuai per tube.

I pondered the merits and demerits of this "blue" variety of Colgate vice its more expensive brethren as best I could.

I've aways been partial to the "green" Colgate, because I assumed it tasted like mint or wintergreen, and I thought the kids would enjoy it. Though they have vigorously reminded me not to, I have bought it several times. I keep forgetting the "green" Colgate is green-tea flavoured — a flavour they hate (in a toothpaste).

Even I eventually learn from my mistakes. I wasn't going to buy the green kind again.

I carefully examined the description of the "blue" Colgate. I knew that 全面 (quán miàn) means "full face," but I didn't recognize the other two characters, 防蛀. I did know that the radical of 蛀 — 虫 (chóng) — means the character has something to do with insects.

I decided to take a risk... Eleven kuai for toothpaste... What could go wrong?

Upon returning home, I looked up 全面防蛀 (quán miàn fáng zhù) in the dictionary...
