this is what the wire goes into.. it is deep in those spaces because the wire goes in there to cut all the way through the soap.. the measure ment is the length of the bar (where the lines are) and to show the distance between the bar thing and the end on each side of the mold.. which is 1 1/2 inches.. the round circle? That is for a dowl rod. It's for hold ing the soap from sliding back. My soap is just as wide as the bar thing, and i took them outt.. Of course, i couldn't find them for the picture. I am sure you or your husband could figure out the diameter for you. Also, the height of the dowl rods, was about 2 inches if I remember, maybe 3 because of the height of the soap.. memory is poor..
