Luton Corporation Transport 1908-1970
Following mounting losses and facing increasing operating costs, Luton Corporation sold its transport undertaking to the United Counties Omnibus Company (UCOC) on 4th January 1970.
Luton CT 185 was one of six 69-seater Neepsend bodied Dennis Loline III's (181-186 FXD181-86C) delivered to LCT in 1965. These were the last double decker buses purchased by Luton Corporation, who embarked upon a policy of buying high capacity single deck saloons from 1967 up until the takeover.
Luton CT vehicles passing to UCOC retained their LCT fleet numbers and livery until February 1970, when the first ex-Luton buses began to appear in the green and cream livery of United Counties. On passing to UCOC, 185 was renumbered as 845.
