Mansfield Road, Nottingham, 1987
Nottingham City Transport 651, a 1979 Leyland Atlantean bus, is about to make the right turn from Mansfield Road into Blue Coat Street, as it departs the City for Mapperley, a district to the Northwest of Nottingham. The picture was taken about halfway up Mansfield Road, where the road climbs out of the City centre towards Sherwood. Our view of the scene is looking in a Southwardly direction back towards the City centre.
By today’s standards this road junction appears to be incredibly quite in 1987, with just two Ford Sierra cars to accompany the bus through the junction, of which one looks to be a taxi.
