Graphite arch

This is a graphite arch that people with flat foot put in their shoes to support up their low arch. Graphite is an allotrope of carbon. It is used in this case because it is hard enough to support people's arch while at the same time not too hard as other metal elements will be on people's feet. Only the middle black patch you see is made up of graphite.
