The legendary Deltics took over from the A4's in the early 1960's. All change in 1979 when the HST's arrived and displaced the Deltics. Then in 1988 91001 entered service on the London Leeds diagram by late 1990 the fleet of 31 locos with 32 setts of Mk4 coaches were tacking trains to Scotland. One loco 91010 holds the British Speed record of 163 MPH with A shortened Mk4 rake. This however is jointly held with the APT set 370004. 91006 holds the record for the fastest time from London to Edinburgh.
