Our Pacesetter Coach trip started from Dover to Ostend on the Channel Ferry. Bruges, Berlin, Prague, Krakow, Warsaw, Brest, Minsk, Smolensk, Moscow, Kalinin, Novgorod, Leningrad, Helsinki. When we reached Helsinki we found out that Pacesetter had gone bust. All the Pacesetter buses had to return immediately to London by order of the company receivers. Fortunately for us Pacesetter had hired a coach from an owner operator for our trip [Pommy Tim]. At his suggestion we all kicked in an extra 25 quid each to continue the trip as planned. From Helsinki we headed North through Finland and Lapland to Hammerfest in Norway [well within the Arctic Circle and land of the midnight sun]. Heading South through Norway to Oslo, across to Stockholm in Sweden, down to Malmo and on the Ferry to Copenhagen, Hamburg, Amsterdam, Ostend and back to Dover. Six wonderful weeks in all.
