The Drury Plaza Hotel Pittsburgh in the former Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, Pittsburgh Branch

As this view of structures in downtown Pittsburgh suggests this mural dates from well after the construction of the building in 1931.

The original mural was "Pegasus at the Forge of Vulcan" by muralist Glenn Moore Shaw. It was removed, probably when the building was expanded in 1950, together with the original "check" desk and other architectural accoutrements and acquired by Duquesne University for use in Rockwell Hall. (According to author James D. Van Trump in "Life and Architecture in Pittsburgh")

No reference to the original mural or other items in the possession of Duquesne University can be found online. If you know of there present location please contact me.

The original sketch for "Pegasus at the Forge of Vulcan" by Glenn Moore Shaw was included in the 1932 May Show at the Cleveland Museum of Art and remains in the collection of the museum.
