26 tombland undercroft

NUMBER 26 TOMBLAND The building above the undercroft dates from the eighteenth century. The undercroft is believed to date from the fifteenth century by comparison with others in the city built in the fifteenth century. It is constructed of a combination of brick and stone.it is situated beneath the carriage entry at the east end of the building. Itis of the pointed barrel-vault type. The plan is a simple rectangle, probably a side chamber of a former more extensive undercroft, which has been truncated at the west by a wall associated with the building above which contains the present entry.

It is not open to the public.
