Back then, they expected people to be able to work simple maths out without complaining.

 

My favourite one was actually 'pay 25% of your cash on hand' when the numbers can rather easily become indivisible by the denominations available. The solution was to 'work it roughly out and be reasonable, it's only a game'.

 

I think we could do with bringing some of that back, sometimes.
