Ebook Reader

Spending a few days in Washington, DC allowed me to try street photography for the first time. I've taken pictures of things and people were in the photograph but that wasn't the focus of the picture for me. Street photography like this brings out a different type of mindset in me. The goal is to capture the person in the setting that tells a story. Generally, I focus on something that doesn't "move" or is an athlete in motion but this genre challenges me. It forces me to think about spacing, shapes, shades, setting, story, and shadows since color isn't used to draw the eye in. In this version, I used selective coloring to highlight the eBook and the business; but in flic.kr/p/vVtrKn, I left it monochrome. Which do you like and why?

Of interest, and somewhat ironic, the business behind her is a closing Books-A-Million on Dupont Circle, Washington, DC
