30 years ago today...
... I arrived in Amboseli, Kenya for nearly a year of studying wild baboons. Ever since I saw Born Free as a little girl I just KNEW that my life would not be complete without getting to live with wild animals so getting to study the baboons was a dream come true. Honestly, it was like watching soap operas all day long, every day. Every night I wrote a letter to my then-husband, Tom, as a sort of journal. Every week I sent a postcard to my Grandma Smith, my parents and my sister's kids.
Lately, I've had the energy to tackle the gigantic job of deep cleaning and decluttering our townhouse so we can eventually move. This past week, I was going through a plastic tub of Kenya stuff and found all the postcards I had sent to my grandma. George and I read them all, I took a few photos of them and then I threw them away.
